Muskogee -- Small business owners will show their support for Dr. Tom Coburn and talk about how Brad Carson’s liberal voting record is bad for business at two events Wednesday.

"As a small-businessman myself, I know we need to protect entrepreneurs from excessive government regulation and junk lawsuits," Dr. Tom Coburn said. "That’s something a former personal injury attorney and liberal career politician like Brad Carson just doesn’t understand."

Dr. Coburn will be endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business at an event in McAlester. NFIB members also will attend an event with Dr. Coburn in Durant.

NFIB President and CEO Jack Faris said in a statement, "Tom Coburn understands that a healthy economy starts with small business." Dr. Coburn received overwhelming support from NFIB/Oklahoma members in a survey asking whom the organization should support in the U.S. Senate.

"I know that small businesses are the key to economic growth in Oklahoma and across the country," Dr. Coburn said.

Dr. Coburn is a longtime leader in the fight to reform our dysfunctional tort system and help small businesses. Last week, he unveiled a tort reform plan that would help small businesses grow by reducing the number of frivolous lawsuits. Dr. Coburn’s support for ending junk lawsuits is an important part of his commitment to fight for Oklahoma’s future in the U.S. Senate.
