Accomplishments:Defending the Second Amendment
On two critical occasions, Dr. Coburn has prevented law-abiding Americans from losing their right to keep and bear arms.
When Federal Government bureaucrats imposed a ban on guns in national parks, Dr. Coburn succeeded in getting an amendment enacted that leaves access to guns in national parks up to state law.
And when a registry to keep weapons out of the hands of the mentally unstable would have deprived virtually all military veterans wounded in the line of duty from possessing firearms, Dr. Coburn won concessions from the sponsors of the registry to protect the rights of the men and women who have made sacrifices on behalf of their fellow Americans.
