Issues: America's National Sovereignty

No treaty or international organization, including the U.N., shall ever supercede the sovereignty of the United States or rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.

As a member of the House of Representatives, I successfully passed legislation to prevent federal funds from being used to create protected land areas known as United Nations Biosphere Reserves. Although this program was never approved by Congress, numerous agencies have contributed to it over the years. I was a co-sponsor of legislation to prohibit any member of the U.S. Armed Forces from being required to wear the insignia of the U.N., to prohibit the U.N. from imposing taxes or fees on the United States and to preserve the sovereignty of U.S. over all public lands owned and acquired by the U.S. I also voted to withdraw approval of the United States from the agreement establishing the World Trade Organization (WTO).

As a U.S. Senator, I will oppose any legislation or treaty that compromises the sovereignty of the United States or the rights of American citizens guaranteed by our Constitution. I will vote against approving the United Nation sponsored Law of the Sea treaty which seeks to impose a regime to rule over the use of the oceans and their resources.
