Issues: National Endowment for the Arts
I oppose any increase in federal funding for the arts and support elimination of the National Endowment for the Arts. I do not believe that it is the role of the federal government to provide financial support for the arts, especially at a time of massive federal debt. Furthermore there is no Constitutional authority for existence of federal arts agencies. During my tenure in the House of Representatives, I was a co-sponsor of legislation to abolish the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Council on the Arts and led efforts to reduce funding for these agencies. As a U.S. Senator, I will again fight to eliminate these and other unnecessary federal agencies. | |
